Download WooCommerce product images at full size

WooCommerce stores keep their media in WordPress, which means the gallery you see on a product page is almost never the file that was uploaded. WordPress generates a stack of resized copies for every image — thumbnail, medium, large, plus whatever sizes the theme registers — and serves those. This tool reads the product gallery and rewrites each URL back to the original upload.

How WordPress thumbnails work, and why it matters

Upload tshirt.jpg to a WooCommerce store and WordPress writes extra files alongside it: tshirt-150x150.jpg, tshirt-300x300.jpg, tshirt-1024x768.jpg and so on, all inside /wp-content/uploads/. Save an image straight from the page and you usually get one of those generated copies. The downloader removes the dimension suffix, so you end up with the original file rather than a 300-pixel square.

Getting a product gallery out without FTP

The usual ways to retrieve WooCommerce media all need access you may not have: FTP or SFTP into wp-content, an export plugin, or the hosting file manager. If you are working on a client store, evaluating a site before taking it on, or simply do not want to install another plugin, pasting the product URL is faster and touches nothing on the server.

Migrating a WooCommerce catalog

Moving a store to a new theme, a new host or a different platform means bringing the product media with it. Pull each product's gallery as a ZIP with numbered filenames, and you have a clean per-product folder structure to import on the other side. Set a maximum width at the same time if the originals are larger than the new store needs.

Compress before you re-upload

WooCommerce stores are frequently slowed down by 4000-pixel product photos uploaded straight from a camera. Choose a maximum width and convert to WebP as you download, and the files you re-import are already the right size — usually 70–90% smaller with no visible difference on a product page.

What it can and cannot reach

It reads the public product page, so anything visible to a customer is fair game: the main image, the gallery, and variation images that are present in the markup. It cannot reach draft or private products, media that is not attached to any page, or images swapped in by JavaScript after load. It is not a substitute for a full database export — this is media only.

Frequently asked questions

How do I download images from a WooCommerce product page?
Copy the product URL, paste it into the box above and press Fetch images. The gallery is listed and you can save the images individually or as a single ZIP.

Does it give me the original upload or a WordPress thumbnail?
The original upload. WordPress generates copies such as tshirt-300x300.jpg inside wp-content/uploads, and the tool strips that dimension suffix to request the file that was actually uploaded.

Do I need a plugin or FTP access?
Neither. It works from the public product URL, so nothing is installed on the store and no server access is required.

Can I use it to migrate a store to another platform?
Yes, for the media. Each product's gallery downloads as a ZIP with numbered filenames. Product data itself still needs a proper WooCommerce export.

Will it get variation images?
It gets the images present in the page markup, which normally includes gallery and variation images. Images injected by JavaScript after the page loads cannot be seen by a fetch.

Can I resize the images while downloading?
Yes. Set a maximum width and quality and optionally convert to WebP, and every image is re-encoded in your browser before it is zipped.

Note on usage: use this on your own stores, on client stores you are authorised to work on, or on supplier media you are licensed to use. Product photography belongs to whoever produced it.
